Mental health is a term used to describe either a level of cognitive or emotional well-being or an absence of a mental disorder. From perspectives of the discipline of positive psychology or holism mental health may include an individual's ability to enjoy life and procure a balance between life activities and efforts to achieve psychological resilience. Mental health is an expression of our emotions and signifies a successful adaptation to a range of demands. The World Health Organization defines mental health as "a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community". It was previously stated that there was no one "official" definition of mental health. Cultural differences, subjective assessments, and competing professional theories all affect how "mental health" is defined. Most recently, the field of Global Mental Health has emerged, which has been defined as 'the area of study, research and practice that places a priority on improving mental health and achieving equity in mental health for all people worldwide'. Hi, I am doing a "proposal" that is aim at targeting the deficiencies that prisons across the United States suffered, especially the State of California. Not so much an answer but an observation, my dear pal was on death row in San Quentin and he often wrote about how so many guys became so mentally ill that they were no longer fit for execution. Sadly this proved to be true when he took his own life in June this year, says it all for me. Does employers have to by law place mental health employees off to themselves. Where can these people find housing, and education. Asked by mouses1 - Wed Jul 4 02:54:37 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Some people with mental health issues function well in the workplace with others. Others who may be more seriously impaired have to have assisted living arrangements and educational accommodations for their specific needs. Nearly everyone has at least one mental health issue these days. So, the answer is NO. Most people with these mental issues are integrated into the mainstream of society today. Q. I have just finished school and want to get into mental health and human behavior. I know of the usual occupations, but before I head for something, I want to know all the possibilities I can access. Asked by Jessica - Wed Oct 14 00:37:44 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. There is a variety of options you could look at. This advice is assuming that you are based in the UK. Hospital based involves working with people who are unwell and require a period of treatment and observation that cannot be achieved at home. A lot of psychiatric nurses start out on wards but move out to the community and become a Community Psychiatric Nurse who visit people in their own homes, administer medication, monitor mental health and offers support and advice. The other options are work in the community such as a psychologist or social worker (which would prob require further training). A growing number of charities (voluntary sector providers) are winning tenders from local authorities to provide community services such… [cont.] Answered by Deek - Wed Oct 14 08:48:48 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Mental Health" Insomnia, sleep medications common in children with mental health problems - Boston Globe
