Event planning is the process of planning a festival, ceremony, competition, party, or convention. Event planning includes budgeting, establishing dates and alternate dates, selecting and reserving the event site, acquiring permits, and coordinating transportation and parking. Event planning also includes some or all of the following, depending on the event: developing a theme or motif for the event, arranging for speakers and alternate speakers, coordinating location support (such as electricity and other utilities), arranging decor, tables, chairs, tents, event support and security, catering, police, fire, portable toilets, parking, signage, emergency plans, health care professionals, and cleanup. Event Planning is a relatively new career field. There is now training that helps one trying to break into the career field. There must be training for an event planner to handle all the pressure and work efficiently. This career deals with a lot of communication and organization aspects. There are many different names for an event planner such as a conference coordinator, a convention planner, a special event coordinator, and a meeting manager. From Wikipedia under the

I work as an Event Coordinator planning private parties from 10-1,500 guests for a Nightclub & Restaurant. Any ideas on how to gain more parties and more clients on a small business budget? Our business is new and I need to find alternatives to radio and print advertising because of cost. How can I maximize my position to get more events rolling in? Any ideas?? Networking is a cost effective, if not necessarily time effective, means of building a client base. Be sure to look into networking events sponsored by local chapters of IAEE, MPI and ASAE. I'm looking for schools, classes that I can take in California but am not having much luck in my search. What is a good way to get started? Sometimes programs like that are only available to employees or students of large universities, but small community colleges may offer more options. One of my local community colleges has a 6 month certificate program for event planning. You can also try contacting your convention and visitors bureau in the area and see if they can suggest anything. Good Luck!! Q. I am majoring in Media Arts and Animation. I have also been entertaining at birthday parties and I love doing that. I would like to start work on my own and start planning other events and incorporate digital art and animation skills. What are some ways I could do this? Asked by Sebboh - Tue Jan 20 17:19:20 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well I would suggest setting up some samples to do with your birthday parties now. Get feed back on what the parents think and make it part of your act or show for the kids. Heck interact with the characters on the screen. (You have a line, they have a line, that sort of thing) Then brainstorm about other events you could work this into. Wedding, showers, bachelorette parties, and more. I would imagine you could take this quite far. I would also suggest getting on some forums where Media Arts is the theme. Get feed back and learn from what other have done. And start building up a social network through Twitter, Facebook, or Myspace. Answered by Genevieve H - Tue Jan 20 17:46:55 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Event Planning"
