How far back do you think someone has LEGITLY traced back their ancestry?
Q. Copying and pasting other people's family trees that are probably errored DON'T count...How many generations (and to what year) have you traced yours back and how far back do you think the oldest has? A. Unless you are descended from somebody rich or famous, or of royal or noble blood it is really difficult. In the UK registraion of BM&D did not start til 1837 and before that the parish records are not always a good source for information. No ages or addresses on marriages for example. I have noticed that a lot of American researchers tend to make leaps of faith in their ancestry and somehow often manage to find titled ancestors. Thousands and thousands of British researchers never manage this because they tend to demand more proof of connections. Anyone who claims to have traced back a very long way should be able to categorically prove it by documents. I actually heard one American lady say she was descended from King Arthur. When I have call trace on my phone does the caller get notified their call is being traced?
Q. My husband's exwife keeps calling and leaving awful messages on our phone. I had our call trace activated and had her number entered. Since doing this she hasn't called in 3 days. I am just wondering if she is notified on her end that her call is being traced? I didn't have her number blocked as I figured once she couldn't get through she would just use another number to call from. If she is being told her call is being traced and that has scared her enough to stop calling that would be such a wonderful thing. Then we wouldn't have to worry about any legal hassles down the road.

A. No it will not notify the caller. All it does is mark the call on your records so that it can be identified by the police when and if the subpoena your phone records. If the caller has found out, it's not because of the phone company.
